   • Some people are just not confrontational. Last week I was in Target and this lady just walks up to the other lady and literally started running her fingers thru her hair. The woman look obviously uncomfortable but she didn’t say anything. After the lady walked away I asked her why did she let that woman touch her like that if he didn’t want it. She said she simply didn’t know what to say and that she didn’t want to make a scene. Couldn’t have been me.

9. if I were in her shoes, I would report him to the police because it is likely that her doctor can potentially cause harm to other innocent patients who might not be able to afford another procedure for his malpractice. Who cares about power structure between the patient and the doctor.

   • That’s just the point – we like to think that people will react the way they would like to – I’m sure she wanted to leave that place and expose him – but power imbalances are very real things. And they affect the way we act, even when we don’t want them to.

10. I’m so glad he explained the power imbalance there. People wonder why patients react the way this patient did, and often blame them – but humans are socialised to obey those in power, it’s an extremely strong instinct, and women especially are told from a young age to obey authority and men in general. So I’m not surprised she reacted the way she did.

    • Amy Bee I’ve never been told to Obey men. Actually since I was raised by a woman, women are the only thing I obey and take seriously.
